'Bring Own Security': Akhilesh's Jibe at 'BJP Rule' After Video of Municipal Meet Fight Goes Viral

The incident took place at a municipal council meeting in UP's Shamli

It was raining punches and kicks at a municipal meet in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli where council members got into an ugly brawl.

The incident is said to have taken place during a board meeting of the Shamli Municipal Council in the presence of Municipal Chairman Arvind Sangal and MLA Prasann Chaudhary were present. 

Videos of the incident going viral on the internet show members of the municipal council punching, slapping and kicking each other with one even climbing a chair to hit another. Security personnel could also be seen intervening to stop the physical figh. 

When asked what led to the incident, a member, who was seen hitting another member in the video, said he was putting forward a few key issues which were interrupted by another corporator, leading to the brawl.

Not leaving the opportunity to hit out at the Yogi Adityanath-led UP government, former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav posted a video of the incident on his X account and said, "Lesson of BJP rule: Come to the review meeting after arranging your own security."

"When no development work has been done then what else could have happened in the review meeting, that is why physical blows were exchanged among the councilors in Shamli. Lesson of BJP rule: Come to the review meeting after arranging your own security," Akhilesh Yadav's post read.
