Michelle Bachelet, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, has raised concern about the large number of Palestinians killed and injured in the latest escalation in Gaza. The death toll from the recent Israeli air raids on the Gaza strip has grown to 48, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza, after a man and an 11-year-old child, on Thursday, died from wounds sustained during the violence. Among the dead were at least 22 civilians, including 17 children and four women, Xinhua news agency reported. The violence that happened over the last weekend was the most serious intensification of conflict since the 11-day crisis in May 2021. “The utmost restraint is necessary to prevent further bloodshed, including by ensuring that firearms are used strictly in compliance with international standards," Bachelet said.
