A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 shook Istanbul on Wednesday.

A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 shook Istanbul on Wednesday, confirmed by the US Geological Survey.

The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) said the earthquake had a magnitude of 6.02. It was at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles), GFZ said.

As per the reports, people could be seen leaving buildings as the quake hit and shook buildings in the city.

Last month, a strong earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 hit Myanmar, killing 2,700 people, including 50 children, and injuring many others.

Later, Myanmar's military leader, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, stated in a televised address that the death toll had reached 2,719 and could exceed 3,000. He also confirmed that 4,521 people were injured and 441 were missing.
