Floods In Italy Kill 14, Force 36,000 To Leave Home For Safer Places

Devastating floods in Northeast Italy have killed 14 and have displaced around 36,000 people. Earlier this month, a report said that six-months worth of rainfall occurred in just 36 hours in the region, causing many rivers to break through their banks and submerge entire towns and making some villages entirely inaccessible. Climate experts say the floods are the result of extreme weather phenomena that are becoming increasingly frequent around the world. That includes prolonged spells of drought punctuated by intense periods of rain that can’t be absorbed by the parched ground.
