The Punjab and Haryana High Court has dismissed former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini’s two requests, including a plea for anticipatory bail, in the 1991 Balwant Singh Multani disappearance case. Multani, a junior engineer, was picked up by police after a terrorist attack on Saini, then SSP in Chandigarh.

No guideline has been issued recommending wearing of a mask when someone is driving a car or cycling alone, Union health ministry secretary Rajesh Bhushan has said. His remarks follow complaints that people are being fined for not wearing a mask inside their cars.

An Assam doctor and his college principal wife were arrested on the charge of pouring hot water on their 12-year-old domestic help when he was asleep, scalding the boy’s back and arms. Siddhi Prasad Deuri and Mitali Konwar have been on the run after their crime surfaced.
