More than two hours after the scheduled start, play is finally underway at SW19. A number of matches have commenced across courts, and a particularly eye-catching one is the men's singles second-round battle between home hope Cameron Norrie and 12th seed Frances Tiafoe. The American is up a break 4-3 in the first set.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka is taking on Czechia's Marie Bouzkova at Centre Court in the women's singles second round. The first serve is on serve at 3-2 currently.
Over at Court 2, women's singles sixth seed Madison Keys is on the verge of winning her second-round clash against Olga Danilovic. Keys leads 6-4, 5-2 and is just one game away from booking a third-round berth.
Sabalenka has to dig deep to win the first set against an inspired Bouzkova. The top seed was a break down late in the set, but broke back to force a tie-break and win it 7-4.
The Court 1 clash between Cameron Norrie and Frances Tiafoe is shaping up nicely. Tiafoe took the first set 6-4, but the Briton bounced right back to take the second 6-4. Norrie has now taken a 5-3 lead in the third and is serving for the set.
Aryna Sabalenka has a relatively easier time in the second set than the first. She takes it 6-4 to defeat Marie Bouzkova in straight sets and advance to the third round. It's just the third time Sabalenka has reached the third round at Wimbledon.
Meanwhile, the stage is now set for Carlos Alcaraz's second-round meeting with Oliver Tarvet at Centre Court.
Former men's doubles world number one Rohan Bopanna is on court alongside partner Sander Gille for their first-round match against Tim Putz and Kevin Krawietz. The German duo has taken the first set 6-3 and the Indian-Belgian combine needs to win the next one to take the match to a decider.
Carlos Alcaraz has raced away to a 4-1 lead against Oliver Tarvet in the first set. The defending champion saves two break points on serve in the fifth game to keep his advantage intact.
Cameron Norrie is into the third round. The Briton knocks out 12th seed Frances Tiafoe 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-5 on Court One. The 29-year-old has beaten a top-20 player at Wimbledon for the first time in his career.
Rohan Bopanna and his Belgian partner Sander Gille have been knocked out of the Wimbledon men's doubles competition in the opening round. They go down in straight sets 3-6, 4-6 to the German pairing of Tim Putz and Kevin Krawietz.
Carlos Alcaraz fires an ace to take the second set 6-4 against Oliver Tarvet. He thus leads two sets to love, having won the first set 6-1, and is not far now from an easy passage to the third round.
While Rohan Bopanna had to make a hasty first-round exit, compatriot Yuki Bhambri has made a winning start in the men's doubles category. The 16th-seeded pair of Bhambri and Robert Galloway defeats the French-Monegasque duo Manuel Guinard-Romain Arneodo 7-6 (10), 6-4 to advance.
The reigning Wimbledon men's singles champion marches on. Carlos Alcaraz dispatches Oliver Tarvet in straight sets 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 to enter the third round without really breaking a sweat.
Naomi Osaka beats Katerina Siniakova in straight sets 6-3, 6-2. The former world number one marches into the women's singles third round at Wimbledon.
Over at Court 3, Jasmine Paolini has lost the second set to Russia's Kamilla Rakhimova after winning the first. The fourth seed is down a break in the deciding third set, and needs to get her act together to avoid a second-round exit and an upset.
Emma Raducanu converts her first match point to beat Marketa Vondrousova 6-3, 6-3. Raducanu will now meet world number one Aryna Sabalenka in the third round.
Another day, another major upset. Fourth seed Jasmine Paolini saves three match points but is unable to save a fourth as Kamilla Rakhimova knocks her out in the second round with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 scoreline. And thus the procession of high-billing players continues at SW19.
