This will be the 13th meeting between Alcaraz and Sinner. The Spaniard leads the head-to-head record by an 8-4 margin, and has won the previous five encounters to top it off. The last time the Italian won against Alcaraz was at the China Open semi-finals, back in 2023.

Traditionally, the Wimbledon men's final is played at 2pm local time (6:30pm IST) every year. But this time around, both the men's and women's finals were scheduled for 4pm local time (8:30pm IST). This is in order to maximize viewer eyeballs, as the timing might be more amenable to global TV audiences.

Before the popcorn Alcaraz vs Sinner final begins, Centre Court witnesses the women's doubles final. Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens bounce back from a set down to defeat Jelena Ostapenko and Hsieh Su-wei 6-3, 2-6, 4-6. It was riveting encounter that lasted two hours and 23 minutes, and the stage is now set for the men's singles title clash.

Sinner did not drop a set in his first three matches in Wimbledon 2025, dispatching Luca Nardi, Aleksandar Vukic and Pedro Martinez all in straight sets. The world number one then came up against an inspired Grigor Dimitrov, who was leading by two sets before a tragic pectoral injury cut his campaign short. The Italian then again beat Ben Shelton in the quarter-finals without breaking a sweat to enter the semis, where he brushed aside the legendary Novak Djokovic 6-3, 6-3, 6-4.

Alcaraz comes right back in it! He finds some of the powerful strokes that were deserting him earlier in the set, and pushes Sinner to the wall on serve. The Spaniard earns two break points and converts the first one to bring the set back on level terms.

There we have it. The trademark Alcaraz magic is on ample display as the Spaniard leverages his incredible reach to retrieve what appeared to be a stunning forehand winner down the line from Sinner. The Italian's serve is broken for the second time and the defending champion takes a one-set lead.

The see-saw battle continues. After Alcaraz's outrageous retrieve to snare the first set, Sinner responds brilliantly, breaking the Spaniard's serve right away in the second. He consolidates the break and has the momentum currently.

Alcaraz tries to put some pressure on the Sinner serve in the sixth game, taking a couple of early points. But the Italian holds firm and staves off the challenge to hold, and retain his advantage in the second set.

Oh, what a treat we are in for. Just like Alcaraz's breathtaking return to clinch the first set, Sinner produces a spectacular cross-court winner, while still on the move, to take the second set 6-4 and bring the match to parity. The crowd is in raptures, and so are we.

The third set is yet to see a break of serve after five games. Sinner tried to exert pressure on Alcaraz's serve, but a forehand goes long for the Italian and the reigning champ holds on.

Sinner seizes the key moment to surge ahead in the third set. He breaks Alcaraz's serve in the ninth game to go 5-4 up, meaning he's serving for the set now.

Sinner serves out the third set with clinical ease. 40-15 up at 5-4, he sends down a big ace that beats Alcaraz and takes the Italian one set away from a historic maiden Wimbledon triumph.

Sinner has taken a potentially decisive step towards winning the title. He breaks Alcaraz in the third game of the fourth set and consolidates his advantage. Alcaraz had the ideal opportunity to claw his way back, with two break points in the eighth game. But Sinner warded them off somehow, much to the Spaniard's frustration. The Italian is now serving for the title.

Sinner has done it! He holds serve in the 10th game and becomes Wimbledon champion for the first time. Alcaraz's five-match victory streak against the Italian is broken and the world number one earns his nation's first men's singles trophy at SW19.

But suddenly I started to bring joy onto the court again and that excitement that I have every time I step on the court is down to my family and friends. Without them, it would not be possible. It is a great journey so far and I just want to keep going and to keep bringing joy onto the court. I have my team to thank for so much."
