Carlos Alcaraz is living his dream after reaching his third straight Wimbledon final

Carlos Alcaraz is focused on living his “dream” after reaching a third consecutive Wimbledon final.

The Spaniard, who is the two-time reigning champion at the All England Club, defeated Taylor Fritz 6-4 5-7 6-3 7-6 (8-6) on Centre Court to reach the showpiece match and extend his winning run on the ATP Tour to 24 games.

At 22 years and 56 days, Alcaraz is the third-youngest player in the Open Era to reach consecutive men's singles finals at both Wimbledon and Roland-Garros, after Bjorn Borg and Rafael Nadal (22 years 20 days).

He is also now the youngest player to claim 10 ATP top-five victories at grand slam events.

Despite breaking records and edging closer to another title at SW19, Alcaraz was just happy to get past Fritz and enjoy the moment.

“It was a really difficult match as always when I have to play against Taylor, even tougher with the [hot] conditions today,” said Alcaraz.

“I was really happy with everything I did today. Playing a semi-final here is not easy, to deal with everything in the match and the pressure you might have.

“Just happy, in the fourth set, saving two set points, I’m just really proud and really pleased about my level.

“[I’m] Not thinking about those things. Not thinking about the winning streak, the results, just thinking this is my dream. My dream is stepping on these kinds of beautiful courts, playing tennis in the most beautiful places in the world.

“That’s what I try to think every tournament, that’s why I try to bring joy to the court.”

Alcaraz could become just the fourth player to win the tournament three times in a row, but he is not thinking about the final just yet.

Alcaraz added: “I don’t want to think about Sunday! I just want to enjoy this moment, qualifying for a third final in a row at Wimbledon. I have to take my time, enjoy it with my team and my close people.”
