With jumps of 16.41m and 16.26m, Praveen Chitravel and Selva Prabhu have not reached their full potential, but its more than sufficient as they secure the second and third positions in the men's triple jump final.

The Indian athlete managed to achieve only 12.70m on his second attempt, which means his best throw of 13.01m still stands with one final round remaining. Currently, he is in 8th place in the shot put event and has fallen to fourth place overall, trailing behind Sammy Ball, who has a throw of 13.72m at this point.
After recovering well in the long jump, Tejaswin Shankar entered the shot put knowing it is one of the tougher events in his decathlon programme.
The Indian all-rounder produced a 13.01m throw, which brings him 668 points and helps him stay within range of the leading contenders rather than losing significant ground.
Lindon Victor has set the early benchmark in the event with a 16.09m effort worth 857 points, while Tejaswin will now look to build on his strong start in the remaining Day 1 events.

Tejaswin Shankar has produced a sensational response in the decathlon long jump, absolutely nailing the landing on his second attempt. The Indian let out a huge roar after soaring to 7.82m, a new personal best and a jump worth more than 1,000 decathlon points.
The effort sends Tejaswin straight to the top of the long jump leaderboard and completely changes the complexion of his decathlon campaign. After concerns over his fitness less than 24 hours ago, this was the clearest possible statement - Tejaswin looks very much back in business.
After a disappointing 100m, Tejaswin Shankar has made a positive response in the men’s decathlon long jump. The Indian cleared 7.42m with his very first attempt, producing a powerful take-off and enough distance to put himself back in the mix.
The landing was slightly untidy, but the jump itself was a strong statement and should earn him valuable points as the competition moves deeper into Day 1.
The men’s decathlon long jump is now underway, and Tejaswin Shankar is yet to begin his jumps. After the opening 100m event, the Indian is currently 11th in the overall standings, which places him second from the bottom of the field. He will be hoping for a strong performance in the long jump to recover valuable points and move up the leaderboard.
Tejaswin Shankar looked confident in Heat 2 of the men’s decathlon 100m, lining up alongside defending champion Lindon Victor and Tokyo Olympics gold medallist Damian Warner.
The Indian made a decent start but faded in the second half and finished last among the six runners, clocking 10.96s for 870 points. Warner won the heat in 10.21s (1,044 pts), while Victor finished second in 10.54s (966 pts).
After the first event, Tejaswin is seventh overall, 170 points behind the leader and 91 points off the provisional medal positions.
The first event of the two-day battle has begun, and India’s Tejaswin Shankar is set to line up in Heat 2 of the men’s decathlon 100m.
Scotland’s Callum Newby has already laid down an early marker, clocking 10.76 seconds to win the opening heat. That is a sharp start in decathlon terms and gives the rest of the field a clear benchmark. Tejaswin will now look for a clean, efficient sprint to open his campaign on a positive note.
