And there's the first one. Povea nails it, 14.42 right out of the gate, season's best, wind just right at +1.0. Oh, that's a good start for Cuba. Lafond's up next and she's going 14.31, fighting a headwind at -0.2, not bad, not bad.
Then Pérez Hernández steps in and, no, fouled it. Gone. The wind's with her at +1.6 but she's over the line. Povea's leading this as round 1 is underway and she's looking smooth doing it.
Pérez Hernández bounces back after that foul and she's straight to 14.97, oh, there's the move. She's leading it now. Povea improves to 14.58, still solid. Lafond gets to 14.52, staying in it. Sarr from Senegal hits a personal best at 14.86 with a favorable wind. So it's Perez out front after round one, but Povea and Lafond are right there hunting.
Pérez Hernández still holding the lead at 14.97. Velazco fouls this round but her 14.97 keeps her right there in second. Sarr gets 14.60 here but she's still third with that 14.86 from round two backing her up. Pérez's still the one to beat, but it's tight at the top.
1. Davisleydi Velazco - 15.13 (+1.3)
2. Leyanis Pérez Hernández - 14.97 (+2.5)
3. Saly Sarr - 14.86 (+1.2)
Karalis goes up from 5.42 and jumps straight to 5.62, oh, he's got it, leading the field right away. Abdelsalam, the home favorite, steps up and clears 5.62 as well, staying right with him. Then Kendricks comes through and gets his 5.62. Three of them locked in at the same height, and they're hunting higher.
Karalis back again and he's jumping from 5.72 straight through to 5.82, clears it clean, taking the top spot. Nilsen gets 5.82 right after him. And Guttormsen's over at 5.82 as well. Karalis leading with both of them at the same height hunting him down.
Cordell Tinch (USA) - 13.23
Asier Martínez (ESP) - 13.27 (SB)
Thomas Wilkes (FRA) - 13.28 (PB)
Karalis takes it. He clears 5.92 and that's enough for the win at Doha. He goes hunting higher, tries 6.02, nothing. Then 6.07, still nothing, the bar stays up there. Nilsen settles for second, Guttormsen takes third. Karalis walks away with the victory.
El Bakkali's got it. Three in a row for the Olympic champion and he earned this one. Firewu's hunting him down in that final lap, pressing hard, but El Bakkali digs. He finds something in the tank, holds him off, crosses in 8:09.28 and oh, he just collapses right there at the line. That's the effort, that's everything he had. El Bakkali takes the win.
Paulino's off in the women's 400m and she's flying at the Diamond League in Doha. Three-time series champion and she's reminding everyone why. She hits that bend and oh, she's gone. The field can't touch her.
She comes home in 48.91 and that's a meeting record. Takes down Allyson Felix's mark, shaves almost a second off it. Paulino opens her Diamond League campaign in style.
That’s a wrap. We’ll be back with another live blog. Until then, bye bye.
