Kimi Antonelli, Mercedes' teenage driver, edged out Red Bull's Max Verstappen and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc to the Miami Grand Prix 2026 pole position in Miami Gardens, Florida, on Saturday (May 2). After finishing 6th in the sprint race, the 19-year-old Italian clocked 1:27.798 in wet conditions to take his third pole in four races this season. McLaren's Lando Norris, who won the sprint, was fourth, ahead of Antonelli's teammate George Russell. Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari), Oscar Piastri (McLaren), Franco Colapinto (Alpine), Isack Hadjar (Red Bull), and Pierre Gasly (Alpine) completed the top 10. Sunday's race has been moved forward by three hours to 13:00 local time due to thunderstorm threats. Antonelli leads the Drivers' Championship standings with 75 points, seven more than Russell.
