Goalkeeper Saves The Day: Al-Owais Stands Tall As Saudi Arabia Hold Uruguay To Tense Draw
Saudi Arabia Vs Uruguay Match Photos, FIFA World Cup 2026: The two teams played out a 1-1 draw in Miami on Monday (June 15). The first half belonged to the Saudis, who went ahead after Abdulelah Al Amri prodded home in the 41st minute following a rebound from an otherwise brilliant Fernando Muslera. Uruguay completely dominated the second half, mounting intense pressure that finally resulted in a 79th-minute equaliser from Maxi Araujo. The Saudi defence stood exceptionally resilient under immense pressure. Goalkeeper Mohammed Al Owais put on an inspired, heroic performance, pulling off a series of spectacular saves to keep his team alive. This result leaves Group H completely open after Spain were denied a win by debutants Cape Verde with a goalless draw earlier in the day. All four teams sit level on exactly one point. Next up in Group H, a motivated Saudi Arabia will face Spain in Atlanta, while Uruguay will stay put in Atlanta to take on Cape Verde.
