Greetings and welcome, everyone. The FIFA Arab Cup's matchday 2 continues and today we have Oman taking on Morocco in Group B. Stick around for the pre-match and live updates.
The match kicks off at 8pm IST. The Oman vs Morocco, FIFA Arab Cup 2025 game will be live streamed on the Alkass Sports YouTube channel in India. It will not be telecast on any TV channel in the country.
The national anthems and other pre-match rituals are complete, and the teams have huddled up. The first half is about to be kicked off.
The match gets underway in Al Rayyan. Morocco kicking from left to right and Oman the other way in the first half. Let's see how this one goes.
The Oman goalkeeper is pressed into action, early in the match. Morocco's attacking midfielder Amin Zahzouh takes a shot on goal and Ibrahim Al-Mukhaini denies him in the 16th minute.
Morocco are expectedly dominant, but Oman have done considerably well with their defensive structure to keep the scoreline at 0-0 so far.
Ibrahim Al-Mukhaini with another top-drawer save! The Oman goalie dives full stretch to his left to deny Morocco striker Abderrazak Hamdallah in the 38th minute.
After three minutes of added time, the referee blows the half-time whistle. Morocco are yet to breach a spirited Oman's defence, though they have come close several times. How long will the Atlas Lions be denied? Find out soon once the second half begins.
The referee blows his whistle, and the second half is underway in Qatar. No half-time changes for either side as far as I can see.
Comoros win a free-kick on the right edge of the box. Instead of crossing it towards the middle, Al Malki instead went for goal, and Benabid has to be alert to parry it away.
Hamdallah is shown a straight red card for a boot into the face of Al-Shaqsy. The Moroccan forward challenged for the ball before a back-kick that looked more at home in MMA than in football. The referee has no choice but to send him off, and Morocco are down to 10 men!!
Oman are patiently trying to fashion some space in the Moroccan penalty area, but the Atlas Lions are defending with all 10 players behind the ball since the sending off. Al Maamari is forced to have a shot from 30 yards out that flies wide, and he apologises to his teammates.
Changes for both sides. First, Comoros make a double substitution, with Al-Mashaiki and Al-Yahyaei coming on in places of Fawaz and Al-Mamari. Morocco respond by bringing on El Mahdioui and Tissoudali, and off come Zouhzouh and El Berkaoui.
With time running out for Oman, manager Carlos Quieroz makes a late double change. Al-Mushaifri and Al Alawi come on, and making the way are Al-Khamisi and Al-Rawahi.
The referee blows the full time-whistle, and it was a frantic end to the match. Morocco surprisingly abandoned their cautious play and committed numbers forward, with Saadane wasting a good chance to head his side ahead. Oman, too, had sights of Benabid's goal, but failed to make them count.
Overall, it's a deserved draw in Qatar. Morocco did very well to restrict their numerically superior opponents, who are knocked out of the tournament.
