Hello and good evening, folks! How’s your Sunday going? We’ve got big plans lined up for you as Liverpool take on Arsenal in the Premier League 2025-26. Stay tuned for live updates, kickoff is at 9 PM IST.
The Premier League 2025-26, Liverpool vs Arsenal match will be broadcast live on the Star Sports Network, and fans can also stream it online via JioHotstar.
The two teams are meeting for the 245th time. Liverpool lead Arsenal 95-83 in the head-to-head record with 66 draws. The Gunners are unbeaten in their last six league games against the Reds.
Last season, Liverpool topped the table with 84 points, 10 clear of Mikel Arteta's Arsenal. And both sides played out 2-2 draws twice. Goal scorers were: Bukayo Saka and Mikel Merino for Arsenal, and Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah for Liverpool at the Emirates; Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz for Liverpool, and Gabriel Martinelli and Mikel Merino for Arsenal at Anfield.
Here we go under the Anfield lights! The whistle’s gone and we’re off. Liverpool, dressed head to toe in red, charge from right to left, looking hungry from the very first touch. Arsenal, sharp in their white away strip, are lined up to spoil the party. The noise is deafening, the tension is thick, buckle in, this one promises fireworks.
Early drama at Anfield as Timber snatched possession and drove forward, only to waste the chance with an overhit pass towards Gyökeres. Moments later, the mood shifted when Saliba went down awkwardly after an aerial challenge and immediately looked in trouble.
The defender couldn’t carry on, forcing Arsenal into an early change as Mosquera came on to replace him. Six minutes gone, it’s still Liverpool 0-0 Arsenal.
Liverpool get a free kick after a bit of grappling between Timber and Gakpo ends with the Dutchman on the deck. Up steps Wirtz, looking to make something happen from deep inside Arsenal’s half, but he gets it all wrong, the ball sails harmlessly over everyone and straight out for a goal kick. Twenty-five minutes played, and it remains Liverpool 0-0 Arsenal.
Gravenberch leaves one in a little too strong and the referee isn’t having it. Chris Kavanagh goes straight to his pocket and flashes the yellow. First booking of the night for Liverpool.
Arsenal earn another corner after Madueke forces a deflection off Kerkez, but it’s the same old story from the set piece. Rice swings it in from the left, and yet again the delivery drifts past everyone without causing a problem. Wasteful stuff from the Gunners. Liverpool 0-0 Arsenal, 36 minutes gone.
Salah darts over to collect a pass, but before he can slip it past, Gabriel clatters into him with a clumsy challenge. Looked like the defender wasn’t taking any chances there.
Half-time at Anfield and it’s goalless, Liverpool 0-0 Arsenal. Not exactly a classic so far. The players head down the tunnel to a subdued atmosphere, and you can see why. Arsenal probably edged it on chances, but their corners have been wasted with Rice struggling to find his range.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have looked flat going forward, barely managing to bring Ekitike or Salah into the game. Plenty of room for improvement after the break, here’s hoping the second half gives us more spark.
The second half kicks off at Anfield with the score still locked at 0-0. Liverpool in search of rhythm, Arsenal looking to make their pressure count, let’s see who lands the first blow after the restart.
Gravenberch takes matters into his own hands, latching onto a neat pass before winding up from distance. The strike, though, is wayward, flying miles wide of the left post and giving the Arsenal keeper nothing to worry about.
Finally, a spark at Anfield! Wirtz tests Raya with a stinging shot, the Arsenal keeper parries, and Ekitike pounces to bundle the rebound into the net. The Kop erupts, but it doesn’t last long. The flag is up, and replays show Ekitike was clearly offside when Wirtz pulled the trigger. Relief for Arsenal, frustration for Liverpool. 61 minutes in, still 0-0.
Double change for the Gunners! Eberechi Eze is on to make his Arsenal debut, taking the place of Martinelli, while Odegaard is introduced for Merino. Fresh legs and plenty of creativity now on the pitch as Arsenal look to tilt this stalemate their way. 72 minutes gone, Liverpool 0-0 Arsenal.
76 minutes in, and Arsenal come close as Odegaard spots an unmarked teammate and tries a neat low pass, only for Liverpool’s defence to read it perfectly and snuff out the danger.
A minute later, concern for the Reds as Konate goes down with an injury, bringing the Liverpool medical team rushing on to check him over.
Liverpool finally break the deadlock! Dominik Szoboszlai steps up and delivers a sensational free kick, curling it with precision into the top-left corner. An absolute stunner that leaves Raya rooted, Reds 1, Gunners 0. 82 minutes on the clock and Anfield erupts.
Seven minutes of stoppage time added as both teams shuffle their packs. Wirtz, after a brief spell on the treatment table, makes way for Wataru Endo, while Arsenal bring on teenage sensation Max Dowman for Madueke. 90 minutes up, Liverpool 1-0 Arsenal, but plenty left to play in added time.
That’s a wrap from Anfield. We’ll catch you with the next live blog soon, bye for now.
