We had a cooling break in between but the intensity here keeps rising as both teams are still locked in at 1-1. East Bengal have come close to scoring at least twice in this half but they have not been able to.
Here comes the whistle and we come to the end of the regulation time in Kolkata. Mohun Bagan threatened to get a goal in just before the final whistle but Amrinder Gill made a good save in East Bengal's goal to keep things at 1-1 as both sides head to extra time of 30 minutes.
Half-time in Extra Time and both sides are still locked in at 1-1. A good passage of 15 minutes here where Mohun Bagan did come close to taking an important lead but ultimately, we are still searching for the next goal which could very well be the winning strike.
Free kick for both sides in this second half of the extra time but none of them have been able to convert into meaningful attacks. It remains 1-1 with just around six minutes to go for the penalty shootout.

Mehtab converts the fifth attempt for Mohun Bagan and the Mariners have won the IFA Shield. Jay Gupta missed the fourth shot for East Bengal and none of the Mohun Bagan players was off target. The Mariners win the shootout 5-4 to take home the trophy.

This was a game fully deserving of a final and the two historic rivals gave it all in this match to win the trophy. Both sides scored in the first half and then no one could strike in the second half and then in the 30 minutes of extra time. It was neck and neck throughout till about three penalty kicks. This was when Jay Gupta missed for East Bengal wile Mariners kept scoring and lifted the IFA shield title. A thoroughly enjoyable clash between the two arch rivals.
