Good afternoon, Indian football fans. This is the start of our live blog for the opening Super Cup fixture today, featuring Dempo against Chennaiyin. Dempo are barely hanging on to qualification, while Chenaniyin are out, but both have their pride at stake. Stay tuned for pre-match updates and line-ups as they are revealed.

Are Dempo SC still in the race for semi-final qualification? Yes… but barely. Firstly, Dempo need to win their match five a four-goal margin or more. If they do, they will have to hope that the Mohun Bagan vs East Bengal match later tonight ends goalless.

Consider the Kolkata Derby ends nil-nil, and Dempo win 4-0, it will come down to a draw of lots between them, East Bengal, and Mohun Bagan as to who qualifies. If Dempo win by more goals, they will go through.

The pre-match formalities are done, and referee Pratik Mondal blows his whistle. Chennaiyin gets today's first Super Cup match underway, and their Goan opponents will look to mount an improbable semi-final progression push. Remember: Dempo need to win by a four-goal margin or more.

It has been a very attacking start from Chennaiyin, and they have pegged Dempo back in their own halves. A well-worked short corner routine almost found a CFC player in the box, but the defence somehow clears. Good, positive football from the ISL side.

A shot from distance by Kingslee creeps just wide off Sibi's goal. Since then, Chennaiyain have continued to put pressure, with a cross from the right almost finding Irfan in the box, but a crucial touch from Ariston puts it behind. The resulting corner by Mandar comes to nothing.

Despite their attacking persistence, Chennaiyin have been forced to shoot from the distance. Klusner is the latest to have a go, but his shot deflects off the leg of a defender for a corner. The resulting ball into the box by Maheson can't find a Chennaiyin player in the box.

Despite CFC's dominance of the ball, it's Dempo who take the lead agains the run of play. Klusner has a tug at the back of Amay, and Dempo win a free-kick right outside the box.

Three players line up around the ball, but it's Shubham Rawat who has a go, and it dips down just below the cross bar to find the right corner.

Chennaiyin are back int he game!! A ball into the CFC box is grabbed by Samik, who launches it upwards early. The goal-kick bounces over the last line of defence as well as Sibi, who was out of his box, and it finds itself in the back of the net.

Did Irfan help it in? Turns out, it's an incredible goal by the goalkeeper, who scored directly from a goal-kick. Incredible!

The first booking of the goes to Irfan for a hand to the face of Pruthvesh. With that, the Goan side launch a ball towards their forward, and it almost frees up Vieri, but the defnce clears, and Irfan is clattered on the touchline by a Dempo player.

The tempers start flaring and both sets of players are having a go at each other, with Pritam Kotal taking offence at the challenge on his teammate. Another yellow card, this time for a Dempo SC player.

The three minutes of added time after the regulation 45 have flown by, but neither side have been able to take the lead before the break, despite Chennaiyin pushing forward in numbers. For now, it's one-all at half-time, with all to play for in the second half.

The referee blows his whistle, and the second half is underway. Dempo need five more goals to keep their qualification hopes alive. No half-time changes for either side.

Chennaiyin have begun the second half strongly, and most of the attacking moves have come from their side. Depo are struggling to keep hold of the ball for long periods of time, and Samir Naik will be looking to make a change soon.

With the tempo of the match dropping quite a bit, Chennaiyin make the first change, bringing on Gurkirat Singh in place of Maheson. Will the fresh legs make the difference for the Marina Machans?

A rare Dempo attack sees Shubham Rawat almost getting at the end of a cut back from the right flank, but the defence bullies him off the ball and plays it forward. Gurkirat, with the fresh legs, tries to get behind his marker, but the goalkeeper clears the danger.

Naik makes a roll of the dice, with a triple change coming for Dempo SC. Nestor Dias replaces Amay up top, and Laximanrao Rane and Kapil Hoble are also on. Chennaiyin, meanwhile, bring on Vignesh Murthy in place of Mandar Rao Desai.

Dempo's qualification hopes are practically over, so will they be content with protecting their one-goal lead to make sure they end the tournament unbeaten? 10 more minutes of regulation time for the I-League side to defend against a resurgent Chennaiyin team.

Dempo are happy to sit back and try and prevent Chennaiyin players from breaking into their third. They will have to do it for four more minutes, which is indicated on the fourth official's board. Four minutes for Chennaiyin to steal a win and not finish at the bottom of the group.

There was a late half-chance for Chennaiyin, with Klusner's ball into the box from the right flank almost finding Irfan, but it crept wide of the post. A couple of minutes later, the referee blows the full-time whistle to bring this match to an end. The spoils are shared at Bambolim, with the match ending 1-1.
