English Premier League Points Table: Know Who's Leading After Updated Standings

As Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool battle it out for the championship; Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Chelsea fight for top-four; and the rest scrap for everything between and beyond, see who's where in the English Premier League 2023-24 table with updated standings

The perceived differences between the best and the rest of the Premier League grow fainter with each passing week. Gone are the days when the 'top six' were the ones battling it out for glory at the top of the table; Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur are head and shoulders above the rest only on the balance sheets. (More Football News)

Each year, a select few among the elite still contest for the crown of English football, but the competition behind them is not as distinct any more. Brighton and Hove Albion and Aston Villa have made upward strides in recent years; Newcastle United are threatening to break down the status quo, boosted by their new ownership; Brentford and West Ham United frequently find means to get a result against the big boys, while no one can discount even the teams lying in the relegation zones anymore.

The format for Premier League is as follows:

Four clubs until the 2022-23 season qualified for the UEFA Champions League, with those in tow making it to the second and third tiers of European football. That, however, is suspected to change from 2023-24 onward, with a new UCL format shaking things up at the right end of the table. The picture at the other end, though, remains as clear as ever; the three worst-ranked teams at the end of the 38-game season drop to the Championship, replaced by the three best teams from below.

With competition tight for each place, teams often finish level on points, which, in turn, triggers one of the tie-break scenarios that determines their final position.

The tie-breakers are:

  • Goal difference

  • Total Goals Scored

  • Head-to-head results

  • Head-to-head away goals tally

  • Playoff
