D Gukesh Vs Ding Liren, World Chess Championship Game 8: Fifth Straight Draw Ensues
Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh played out a fifth consecutive draw with defending champion Ding Liren of China in the eighth game of the FIDE World Chess Championship in Singapore on Wednesday (December 4, 2024). With that, the players remained level on points as the stalemate left both of them with a tally of four points. The victor would need a minimum of 7.5 points in order to annex the championship. The duo shook hands after 51 moves, in what was the sixth overall draw of the 14-round tie. The 32-year-old Liren had won the opening game, while the 18-year-old Gukesh had emerged victorious in the third game.
