Out-of-favour India batter Prithvi Shaw roared back to form with a blistering double century for Maharashtra against Chandigarh in the Ranji Trophy on Monday. Playing just his second game since moving from Mumbai, the 25-year-old smashed his maiden ton for his new team in 141 balls before racing to the second-fastest double in tournament history, his first century in over 20 months.
Aman Mokhade builds on his century to reach 150 as Vidarbha close in on Day 4, now just 84 runs behind Jharkhand’s first-innings total of 332.
Mohammed Shami makes an immediate impact, removing Abhishek Desai off the very first delivery as the batter edges an on-drive through to the keeper. Gujarat off to a shaky start at 0 for 1, needing 260 more runs to chase down the 327-run target.
Rain and soggy outfields continue to impact several Ranji Trophy matches. In Vizianagaram, the Andhra–Baroda clash was washed out without a result after losing an entire day’s play, with both teams sharing a point each.

Urvil Patel brings up a fiery century, reaching the milestone in just 96 balls, his second in first-class cricket. His 100-run stand with Jaymeet (34) has revived Gujarat’s chase, keeping hopes alive as they eye the remaining 182 runs.
Akshay Karnewar joins Yash Rathod after Wadkar departs for a duck. With the result all but settled, the two captains are likely to shake hands soon, giving Vidarbha three points from this contest.
Ayush Pandey brings up a fine hundred in the second innings, guiding his side towards safety alongside skipper Amandeep Khare. The deficit is now down to just 21 runs as Chhattisgarh edge closer to a draw.
The match has drawn after a terrific batting display from Tamil Nadu. Nagaland batted first and scored 446 runs. In response, TN scored 512 runs and lost only 3 wickets.
Pradosh Ranjan Paul, named Player of the Match for his double hundred. But he handed over his award and prize money to Imliwati Letmur, acknowledging the Nagaland batter’s fighting knock.
The Goa vs Karnataka encounter also ended in a hard-fought draw, with Goa finishing at 143/1, just 11 runs shy of taking the lead in their second innings. After Karnataka secured the first-innings advantage, Goa showed solid resistance on the final day.
While Karnataka walk away with three points for their first-innings lead, Goa earn one point for their spirited fightback.
Third draw of the day, as Ayush Pandey's magnificent century has denied Mumbai a win. The day ends with CG on 201/3. Mumbai bowlers failed to make an impact after enforcing follow on.
Ajinkya Rahane named Player of the Match for his 159-run knock.
Puducherry continues to battle at 91/5 in 35.4 overs, but Varun has just broken a gritty partnership by dismissing Siddhant for 16 after he and Akash Kargave held firm for nearly 50 balls. Hyderabad, still needing five wickets for victory, will fancy their chances with the light fading fast. The game hangs delicately in the balance, one good spell could tilt it Hyderabad’s way, but Puducherry’s lower order will hope to dig in and force a draw.
Just in! India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has communicated to Mumbai's chief selector Sanjay Patil that he will be available to play for the side in Round 3. He is keen on readying himself for India's 2-match home Test series against South Africa next month.
Mohammed Shami displays his class, yet again. After racking up 7 wickets in the first/previous match against Uttarakhand, Shami registers a 5-wicket haul as Bengal beat Gujarat by a whopping 141-run margin. Consecutive outright wins for Bengal.
Maharashtra have earned a well-deserved and bumper 144-run victory over Chandigarh. The match was most likely to end in a draw due to the diminishing light but luckily, the MAH bowlers bowled CHA out for 319. Ruturaj Gaikwad has been adjudged as Man of the match for scores of 116 & 36* across innings.
After 2 days of washout, the match between Baroda and Andhra Pradesh has ended in a draw. Both teams will share a point each in Vizianagaram.
