Hosts New Zealand sealed a five-wicket win over West Indies in the second ODI of the three-match series on Wednesday, November 19, at Mclean Park, Napier.
After a rain-interrupted start that reduced the match to 34 overs each, the hosts managed to comfortably chase down a target of 248 runs with three balls to spare.
The Kiwi chase was led by the opening pair of Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra. The former played a measured innings of 90 off 84 balls, losing out on a well-deserved century. Ravindra, meanwhile, scored 56 off 46.
Earlier, West Indies had managed to reach 247/9. With their batting order all but failing to turn up, their innings was led by captain Shai Hope, who remained unbeaten at 109 runs off just 69 balls – with a strike rate of 158.
However, Conway and Ravindra’s partnership, as well as quick knocks from Tom Latham (39*) and Mitchell Santner (34*), helped the Black Caps seal the match and the series.
