A brilliant knock under pressure from captain Harmanpreet Kaur propelled Mumbai Indians to their highest-ever successful run chase in Women's Premier League history on Tuesday (January 13, 2026). The 36-year-old struck an undefeated 71 off 43 balls as her team gunned down Gujarat Giants' 193-run target in 19.2 overs, with seven wickets intact at Navi Mumbai's Dr DY Patil Sports Academy.
Amanjot Kaur (40 off 26) also played a crucial role in the chase, and her partnership with Harmanpreet set the foundation for the heist. Earlier, the Giants rode Bharti Fulmali's unbeaten 15-ball 36 in getting to a 192-run total.
They retired debutant Ayushi Soni out and the move paid off, with Fulmali's blitzkrieg. But the Giants eventually ended up losing their first game of the season, and Mumbai extended their winning streak against them to 8-0.
Defending champions Mumbai entered the contest with a convincing win over Delhi Capitals, displaying depth in batting and tight bowling. Meanwhile, Gujarat Giants had secured back-to-back wins were on top of the table prior to this match, thanks to aggressive batting performances from Sophie Devine and Ashleigh Gardner.
