15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continued his scintillating rise in the Indian Premier League by edging closer to becoming the first batter with the most number of sixes in a single season. The Rajasthan Royals' opening batter has now amassed 53 sixes.
Chasing 220 for victory in a must-win situation, Sooryavanshi came up trump as he scored a blistering 93 off 38 balls to set up a Royals win.
The southpaw hit an astonishing 10 sixes during his knock to become the first Indian to smash 50 maximums in a single IPL season. The 15-year-old had started the match with 43 sixes to his name this season.
Sooryavanshi had earlier broke the India record during Delhi match, then followed it up another six-hitting spree yesterday (against LSG). He has now set his eyes on Chris Gayle's all-time record of 59 sixes.
Currently, he has 53 sixes to his name after surpassing Abhishek Sharma's tally of 42 sixes from IPL 2024. The 15-year-old is six sixes away from matching Chris Gayle's all-time record for the most sixes by any player in a single IPL season.
The West Indian batter has hit 59 maximums for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru during the 2012 season.

Sooryavanshi’s stats belie the fact that he is just 15 years old. Since making his much-publicized debut last year, the Bihar batter has also become the youngest cricketer to hit 100 T20 sixes.
He also has two stunning centuries to his name – a 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans (GT), and a 36-ball hundred against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The second knock featured 12 sixes, the most hit by an Indian in a single IPL innings.
