Ashton Turner's Perth Scorchers locked horns with Will Sutherland's Melbourne Renegades' Perth Scorchers in match number 36 of the Men's Big Bash League 2025-26 season on Thursday, January 15.
The Scorchers produced a commanding performance to defeat Melbourne Renegades by 50 runs at Marvel Stadium. Perth posted a formidable 219/7 in their 20 overs, powered by a breathtaking century from Finn Allen, who scored 101 off 53 balls with eight sixes and five fours, taking full control of the innings.
Contributions from the rest of the top order ensured Scorchers maintained momentum throughout their batting effort.
Chasing 220, the Renegades never really recovered after early blows. Tim Seifert played a bright 66, and Jake Fraser-McGurk added 42, but the rest of the lineup failed to build significant partnerships, slipping to 169/7 in 20 overs.
Scorchers’ bowlers kept things tight, and Renegades’ chase faltered as they lost wickets at crucial stages, ending their slim finals hopes with a comprehensive defeat.
The Melbourne Renegades won the toss and chose to bowl first.
