Drama in the third over of the day. Qamran Iqbal given caught behind by the on-field umpire but the batter survives after opting for DRS. Vidyadhar Patil's delivery from off, swung away and Qamran, who was committed to the push got off balance. Initially it felt like the ball took an edge before going to the wicketkeeper but review showed the bat clipped the pads while the ball was significantly away from the bat. No dismissals yet.

Top over from Vidyadhar Patil and he troubled Yawer Hassan. First his ball drew and edge of Qamran Iqbal's bat but it dropped short from the slip. Once Yawer got on strike, Patil's channel bowling made him play and miss twice and both times, it could have been an edge. Jammu and Kashmir have looked nervous with the bat so far.

First wicket falls and it is Qamran Iqbal who departs. Prasidh Krishna shows his experience and class in just two balls. First over for him as the first change bowler, gets it to bounce on the off-stump line and Qamran ended up playing away from his body. The edge travels comfortably to KL Rahul stationed at the second slip. Crucial wicket for Karnataka.

Karnataka lose a review and Jammu and Kashmir's stand remains intact. After the fall of the first wicket in the 11th over, the two batters Subham Pundir and Yawer Hassan have stitched a steady partnership. It looked like might break when Shreyas Gopal hit the pads of Subham Pundir, but review showed Pundir hit the ball before it edged on to his pads. Karnataka keep searching for a breakthrough.

A solid partnership from Jammu and Kashmir with Yawer Hassan and Subham Pundir out on the crease. Hassan has looked a bit edgy in the first few overs but since then he has settled himself and gradually opened up to even attempt shots. Subham Pundir has looked solid since joining him and the duo has stitched a steady stand. Hassan also completed his half-century.

Jammu and Kashmir has been handling the Karnataka bowlers as well and the pitch has eased out a bit as well. Both batters are set on the crease and they have reached the 100-run mark without having any trouble. The best phase of batting looks like yet to come with the sun beating down now and the seamers having bowled big spells. Jammu and Kashmir will have to use the opportunity to their favour.

Play has resumed after lunch and Karnataka have started with their spinners from the other end along with seamers to mix things up a bit for the batters and also to rest their pacers by rotating them. Yawer Hassan is going strong on one end while Shubham Pundir is nearing his half-century as well. Good phase of play from Jammu and Kashmir.

Shubham Pundir has joined Yawer Hassan by scoring another half-century. The duo has been rock solid in their partnership and it is just cruising now. Pundir came to the crease and instead of staying defensive he has attacked. He looked for runs and kept collecting them while ticking the scoreboard. Karnataka is under pressure now as the partnership us now getting bigger and bigger.

Finally a breakthrough. It is once again Prasidh Krishna who delivers for Karnataka. Similar ball like Qamran's wicket, slightly back of length, extra bounce off the pitch and Yawer Hassan, batting on 88, ends up with a block on backfoot and the ball takes an edge and travels to KL Rahul who takes a very good low catch. Karnataka will want to make the opening big.

Prasidh Krishna bowled a brilliant spell in the second half of this session and scalped the well-set Yawer Hassan. But Shubham Pundir and Paras Dogra showed their grit and despite the pace of Prasidh troubling them, they survived. They have played out the tricky spell and ended the session. Only 62 runs scored in this session, which shows how difficult the bowling has been from Karnataka.

Unfortunate for Jammu and Kashmir has Paras Dogra is struggling to continue. He was hit on the helmet and on shoulder by Prasidh Krishna and Vijaykumar Vyshak and since then he has been struggling to keep his head in the game. Ice packs were brought by the physio to relieve him but he walks off the field. Abdul Samad replaces him on the crease.

The runs are coming in well for Jammu & Kashmir as Shubham Pundir continues to march towards a significant century and if he does so, he will become the first batter from the state to register triple figures in a Ranji Trophy final.

Century! What an innings from Shubham Pundir and he gets to his hundred in style. Steps out to Shikhar Shetty and smashes him over the cow corner to bring up his hundred. Came in when Qamran Iqbal lost his wicket early and since then he has successfully handled the tricky phases and eventually, reached the three-figure mark.

Abdul Samad has looked solid in his little stay as well as he reaches his half-century. After the first wicket went down, Jammu and Kashmir has batted brilliantly and never allowed the pressure to build on the. From Yawer Hassan to Shubham Pundir to Abdul Samad and Paras Dogra, all have looked composed in the crease and collected runs easily. Samad, meanwhile, brings up his half-century.

A dominant Day 1 for Jammu and Kashmir comes to an end as they play Karnataka in their maiden Ranji Trophy final. They won the toss and opted to bat first and are looking to post a mountain of runs on Karnataka in their first innings. Opener Qamran Iqbal looked nervy but the same couldn't be said about Yawer Hassan, Shubham Pundir, Paras Dogra and Abdul Samad. Hassan scored a brilliant 88, Pundir remained unbeaten after scoring a well-made century and so did Samad following his half-century. Paras Dogra had to retire hurt due to injury but he looked solid as well in his short stay. Karnataka are feeling the pressure. Although the pitch has looked batting friendly, they will be tired by the time they come on to bat and that will go against them. They will need their bowlers to deliver on Day 2.
