What a sensational piece of fielding! Gill tries to drive, but it’s slightly fullish and not exactly in the perfect hitting zone. He middles it, and the ball is heading just to the left of Theekshana. The spinner reacts instantly, dives across, and takes a brilliant two-handed catch. Gill is in shock, freezes for a moment, and then starts his walk back. Gill departs on 4.
IND 15/1 (1.3)
Suryakumar Yadav is keeping the strike, scoring 9 off 7, while Abhishek Sharma is looking in fine touch with 27 off 15 balls. India have started positively, rotating the strike well and keeping the scoreboard ticking. Early momentum seems firmly with the batters.

IND 71/1 (6)
Hasaranga to Suryakumar Yadav – LBW! Plumb decision! The umpire takes a moment, but there’s no doubt, Suryakumar is given out. He looks a bit surprised and decides to review, but it seems unnecessary. Hasaranga flighted it beautifully, Suryakumar goes down for the sweep, but the length is just too full. Brilliant delivery from the Sri Lankan spinner and SKY departs on just 12 runs.
IND 75/2 (7)

That was a half-tracker, and Abhishek looks furious with himself, thudding his bat against his glove as he walks back. Samson looks furious with himself as he walks back. Samson departs on 39 runs.
IND 158/4 (15.3)
What a sensational effort! Hardik gets a big top-edge off a back-of-a-length delivery, sending the ball soaring between mid-wicket and mid-on. Chameera sprints back, keeps his eyes locked on the ball, and dives forward to take a brilliant two-handed catch. Absolutely top-drawer fielding from the Sri Lankan pacer. Hardik goes for 2 runs.

The crowd erupts, and even Suryakumar Yadav from the balcony can’t hide his applause.
IND 202/5 (20)
We will be back after a short break. Stay tuned.
Right, let's see what the Lankan batters have got. Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis stride out to open and Hardik Pandya has the ball in hand for India. Nissanka starts with a boundary! He smashes a short and wide delivery through the cover-point region to get the SL innings going.
But Pandya rebounds, getting rid of Kusal Mendis three balls later. Shubman Gill snaps up the edge at slip, and India deal the first blow.
SL 7/1 (0.4)
Pathum Nissanka has not let some early movement and Kusal Mendis' early dismissal faze him. The right-handed batter, who appears to be having some difficulty in running, is now hitting the big ones quite cleanly. He has taken a liking to Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana, carting the duo for boundaries all over the park alongside Kusal Perera. Game on!
SL 45/1 (4)
What a fiery start to the chase! Pathum Nissanka is blazing away with 48 off just 22 balls, striking boundaries at will, while Kusal Perera looks dangerous on 32 off 19. The pair has kept India’s bowlers under severe pressure, finding gaps with ease and clearing the ropes confidently.
SL 81/1 (8)
Absolute carnage at the crease! Pathum Nissanka storms to 61 off 32, while Kusal Perera smashes 52 off 27 as both batters notch up quickfire fifties. The Indian bowlers look rattled, struggling to find rhythm or control against this fearless onslaught.
SL 114/1 (10)
ndia finally get the breakthrough they desperately needed. Perera, looking to keep the momentum going, charges down the track but Varun shows great presence of mind, pushing it wider outside off. Perera swings hard, connects with nothing, and Sanju Samson whips off the bails in a flash. Perera goes for 58.
SL 134/2 (12.2)
Kuldeep strikes right at the start of his final over! Tossed up full on middle and off, Asalanka tries to break free by backing away and going for the big lofted hit. But he mistimes it horribly, sending it straight down the throat of long-on. Shubman Gill makes no mistake, taking a comfortable catch. Asalanka goes for 5.
SL 157/3 (15.1)
Another breakthrough!
Sri Lanka lose their fourth wicket at the crucial stage. Kamindu Mendis goes for just 3. A knuckle-ball, off-pace and on a good length outside off, tempts Mendis into a pull shot. But he gets more height than distance, sending it straight to Axar, who takes it cleanly. Sri Lanka are starting to lose momentum now, with wickets tumbling at crucial intervals.
SL 162/4 (16.4)
Arshdeep Singh to Pathum Nissanka – SIX! And that’s a special one! Nissanka completes his maiden T20I century in spectacular fashion. He steps back, belts a half-volley outside off flat and straight down the ground, clearing the ropes with ease. After reaching the milestone, he removes his helmet, gestures to quiet the crowd, looks to the heavens, and then places a finger on his lips.
SL 170/4 (17)
Sri didn't want that. Nissanka goes after a brilliant knock of 107 runs. Nissanka, standing outside off, tries a shovel-flick on a full delivery, but mistimes it straight to Varun Chakaravarthy at short fine-leg. Varun reacts brilliantly, adjusting to the ball and takes a superb reverse-cup catch.
SL 191/5 (19.1)
Harshit Rana to Shanaka – 2 Runs! And We’re Heading to a Super Over! What a dramatic finish! Shanaka mistimes a length delivery, only managing a two to long-on. Janith Liyanage tries to push for it, but the throw comes back to Harshit, who fumbles again.
SL 202/5 (20)
Arshdeep to Kusal Perera – OUT! Caught by Rinku Singh! What a sensational start for India in the Super Over! Perera faces a full delivery outside off and tries to loft it, but he slices it straight to sweeper cover. Rinku Singh charges in, takes a sharp catch, and celebrates with his trademark blown kiss.
SL 0/1 (Ball 1)
Shanaka Survives Run-Out Scare – What a twist! Sanju Samson throws down the stumps with a brilliant under-arm flick as Shanaka attempts a risky run. The ball, a yorker outside off, beats the batter’s dig and passes the outside edge, but Shanaka inexplicably takes off for a run. India appeal for a caught behind, which had already been given by the bowler-end umpire, Gazi Sohel. The ball is dead, and Shanaka escapes what looked like a certain run-out. UltraEdge confirms there’s a gap between bat and ball.
SL 2/1 (Ball 4)
Arshdeep to Shanaka – OUT! Caught by Jitesh Sharma! What a super over this has turned into! Shanaka faces a full, wide delivery outside off and tries to slice it, but he mistimes it completely. The ball flies straight to deep backward point, where Jitesh Sharma takes it cleanly.
SL 2/2 (Ball 5)
Hasaranga to Suryakumar Yadav – 3 Runs! India Win! What a thrilling finish! Hasaranga bowls a clever googly on off and middle, but SKY goes on the back foot, punches it wide of the diving cover, and the ball slows near the outfield. India run hard, and even come back for a third run as the throw bounces to Hasaranga.
IND 3/0 (Ball 1)
What a match it was!
A meaningless contest turned into the best match of the tournament. Finally fans got what they wanted. Nissanka's 100 went into vain, but all the credit goes to Arshdeep and Harshit for superb bowling in the death overs.
India will now face Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final which will be played at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, September 28.
India and Sri Lanka shake hands in great spirit after a thrilling contest. Nissanka’s maiden T20I century and a 127-run partnership with KJP had put India under pressure, but tight overs from Kuldeep and Varun, followed by Arshdeep’s perfect Super Over yorker, sealed a nail-biting win. Sri Lanka fought hard, but India remained unbeaten and now head into the final as strong favorites.
