India’s scheduled white-ball tour of Bangladesh has run into fresh uncertainty, with the series facing the possibility of another delay just weeks before its proposed start.

The tour, comprising three ODIs and three T20Is, was originally scheduled for August 2025. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) later agreed to defer it to September 2026.

However, with the opening ODI scheduled for September 3, BCB president Tamim Iqbal has now confirmed that the two boards remain in discussions over the series.

Here is a look at how the India-Bangladesh tour has been affected over the past year.

India Tour Postponed In July 2025

India were initially scheduled to travel to Bangladesh in August 2025 for a six-match white-ball series. In July 2025, the BCCI and BCB agreed to postpone the tour and reschedule it for September 2026. The decision was taken after discussions between the two boards over scheduling and the circumstances surrounding the series.

The postponement meant that the three ODIs and three T20Is would no longer be played in 2025, with the tour moved to the following year.

BCB Announces Revised Schedule In January 2026

The BCB subsequently included India's tour in its 2026 home calendar and announced fixtures for September.

The series was scheduled to be played across Dhaka and Chattogram, with India due to play three ODIs followed by three T20Is.

However, the BCCI did not make a corresponding public announcement about the revised itinerary, leaving some uncertainty over the status of the series.

Fresh Uncertainty Emerges In August 2026

The tour is now facing another potential setback.

With less than two weeks remaining before the scheduled September 3 opening ODI, Tamim Iqbal said the BCCI and BCB were still discussing the series.

"Both boards remain in discussion about the India series. The dates may be shifted here or there," Tamim said.

The latest uncertainty is partly linked to Bangladesh's domestic calendar. The BCB has scheduled an age-group tournament at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur from August 28 to September 9.

Tamim, however, indicated that the tournament could be moved if the India series is finalised, suggesting that the BCB is still preparing for the possibility of hosting India.

Has India's Bangladesh Tour Been Postponed Twice?

Not officially.

India's men's tour of Bangladesh has been postponed once so far, from August 2025 to September 2026.

The current situation could result in a second postponement, but neither the BCCI nor the BCB has officially announced a fresh change to the schedule.

Bangladesh Women's Tour Of India Was Also Postponed In 2025

Bangladesh’s women’s team were scheduled to tour India in December 2025, but the series was postponed indefinitely in November amid scheduling and political uncertainty.

The two boards have since been looking to find a new window for the three ODIs and three T20Is, but no revised dates have been confirmed so far.

Relations between the BCB and BCCI had deteriorated sharply earlier this year after Kolkata Knight Riders were asked to release Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman from their IPL squad.

The dispute escalated further when the BCB refused to send Bangladesh to India for the 2026 T20 World Cup, citing security concerns. Bangladesh were subsequently replaced by Scotland in the tournament.

Relations have since shown signs of improvement following Tamim Iqbal’s appointment as BCB president and his recent visit to India.
