Welcome to the live coverage of the squad announcement of BCCI for the home Test series against West Indies.
We are still waiting for an official update on when the press conference of chief selector Ajit Agarkar will take place but it should be starting sometime soon. We will have to be patient.

India A squad for the three-match one-day series against Australia A has been announced. Find it in the below-mentioned post.
Meanwhile, BCCI has confirmed that Shreyas Iyer is taking a six-month break from red ball commitments even as he will continue to play in white ball formats.
One big question ahead of the squad announcement is definitely about the future of Karun Nair. The right-hander made his India comeback after eight years but had an ordinary series in England. Will the selectors give him another chance or a young player will take his spot? We will get to know soon.
West Indies have already announced their squad for the series. Roston Chase will be leading the side that has some good young talent.
Roston Chase (c), Jomel Warrican, Kevlon Anderson, Alick Athanaze, John Campbell, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Justin Greaves, Shai Hope, Tevin Imlach, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Anderson Phillip, Khary Pierre, Jayden Seales
Multiple reports said 12:30 PM IST was the time when the press conference will take place. So, we should be starting very soon if those reports were true.
Shubman Gill (captain), Ravindra Jadeja (vice-captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Kuldeep Yadav, Narayan Jagadeeshan
Karun Nair dropped
Shardul Thakur dropped
Devdutt Padikkal is back
N Jagadeesan is back-up wicket-keeper
Axar Patel returns
With Rishabh Pant getting sidelined due to injury, Ravindra Jadeja has earned a promotion and he will be the deputy to captain Shubman Gill for the series.
“Frankly we expected a little bit more. We feel Padikkal offers a little bit more at this point and I wish we could give everyone 15 or 20 Tests. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way. Padikkal has been in the Test squad, he was in Australia, played against Australia, played in Dharamsala against England, got a 50. Showed decent form with India A.”
“He’s (Bumrah) available for both the Test matches. We’ve had a fair break after the England (tour). In fact, he didn’t play the fifth Test either. So, there’s been five weeks of break. Even this tournament (Asia Cup) is fairly spaced out till this last week. He’s ready and keen to play both Tests.
Ajit Agarkar says, “He’s been injured”.
And perhaps the place that would have gone to Sarfaraz has now been taken over by Devdutt Padikkal who returns to the team after the Australia series.
Who is in, who is out?
