It's a little cool, cloudy, and dismal in Delhi. Tonight's game will take place on pitch number three. So we have a short square boundary of 46m and a larger side boundary of 63m. The straight is 64 metres long. It appears to be a nice surface; there isn't much green grass, it's brown, and that helps to keep the pitch hard. There are a few cracks, but they should not cause any problems. There should be plenty of runs on this pitch, but there may be a little something for the seamers.

Mumbai Indians Women have won the toss and have opted to field

Meg Lanning along with Shafali Verma opened the batting for Delhi Capitals and Shabnim Ismail started with the first over for Mumbai Indians. With one boundary in the over, she conceded just seven runs from the over.

DC - 7/0 (1)

Ismail has her wicket, as she sends off Shafali - back of a length and angling into the right-hander, Shafali retreated away on the pull, resulting in a delicate edge to the keeper. Ismail is ecstatic; MI desperately needed this wicket, and Shafali looked threatening.

DC - 52/1 (5)

Amelia Kerr came to bowl the eighth over of the innings and was smashed for three boundaries in the over to concede 15 runs from the over.

DC - 74/1 (8)

Amelia Kerr was called to bowl the 12th over and Lanning and Jemimah Rodrigues managed 20 runs off the over.

DC - 109/2 (12)

Meg Lanning completed her fifty with a boundary in the fourth delivery of the 13th over but Pooja Vastrakar dismissed her on the last ball of the over.

DC - 114/3 (13)

Shabnim Ismail came to bowl the 16th over. Jemimah Rodrigues smashed two fours in the first four deliveries and Marizanne Kapp finished the over with another boundary to extract 16 runs off the over.

DC - 139/3 (16)

That is a huge wicket - might at least save 10-15 runs for MI. - Saika keeps it full at the stumps, Kapp backs away and then is unable to jam her bat down in time, the ball smashes into the middle base, and the zing bails light up.

DC - 161/4 (18)

Jemimah Rodrigues played some beautiful shots to complete her half-century and also set an above-average total for MI in the first match of the Delhi leg in WPL 2024. Now, MI need 193 runs to win this match in 20 overs.

Mumbai Indians are five wickets down and still require 109 runs to win in 48 balls with Amanjot Kaur and Pooja Vastrakar at the crease.

MI - 84/5 (12)

Amanjot Kaur's superb knock has come to an end. She moves over the crease to do the paddle sweep, exposing the stumps. All ends are beaten up, and the stumps are rocked. Delhi Capitals go closer to victory.

MI - 120/6 (16)

Another wicket! Vastrakar was down the wicket, but the ball spun away and beat her. The keeper removes the bails, and Vastrakar is unable to return.

MI - 137/7 (18)

S Sajana tried to showcase some fireworks in the end but it was too late for Mumbai. Finally, MI fell 29 runs short as Delhi Capitals won the match easily and clinched the top position in the points table.

MI - 163/8 (20)

I believe we handed up too many runs while fielding, that our performance was below par, and that we failed to capitalise on opportunities. The good news is that we obtained 160 despite the fact that the top-order did not contribute. We were unaware of the pitch, which is why we chased. We expected dew, but it didn't materialise; the ball stayed low, and they bowled brilliantly. When we play on a pitch with one side short, the batter has a lot on his mind, but if the bowlers maintain bowling on the appropriate line and length, we can keep the score low. However, the shorter side had an impact on how we batted. I believe the change of speed was beneficial, particularly when the slower ones were bowled, but we need to reconsider how we should play on this surface. She's been performing well; she didn't have much batting time before, but she performed good tonight (on Amandeep Kaur). If one or two hitters had performed well, we could have had a better chance in the chase.

The game went well for us. We wanted to keep progressing, and we were up against a really excellent squad. It's important to have a set batter in the conclusion, and Jemi did an excellent job with that. I believe our bowlers established the innings with early wickets. We were on a level with the score, and we knew the conditions, so we needed to hit the length and target the stumps. That was an excellent performance by our bowlers.

I am pleased with the victory, regardless of my batting performance. MI is a really talented squad, so we had to do our best. We accomplished it as a team. To be honest, I am extremely delighted; it was an important moment to come in. It wasn't the easiest wicket, but it suited my style of batting. Learning from my errors, I tried to go out there and be explosive. I went back after the Test match and worked on a few things for the WPL. The game plan was to use the crease and time the ball properly. I was messing with the bowler's thoughts, which helped me a lot today.

Delhi Capitals came out victorious in the first home-leg match against Mumbai Indians. Thank you for joining us. We will be taking your leave now. That's all from our side. See you tomorrow! Goodnight!
