Delhi Capitals have won the toss and opted to bowl first tonight. No changes in playing XIs for either side.
Delhi Capitals Women: Lizelle Lee (wk), Shafali Verma, Laura Wolvaardt, Jemimah Rodrigues (c), Marizanne Kapp, Niki Prasad, Chinelle Henry, Sneh Rana, Minnu Mani, Nandani Sharma, Shree Charani.
Gujarat Giants Women: Beth Mooney (wk), Sophie Devine, Anushka Sharma, Ashleigh Gardner (c), Georgia Wareham, Bharti Fulmali, Kanika Ahuja, Kashvee Gautam, Tanuja Kanwar, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Renuka Singh Thakur.
Jemimah Rodrigues (DC): "We'll like to bowl first, with the dew coming in. We are going with the same team. I think it was a quick turnaround. Today's a fresh day, we got to forget what's happended in the past and need to focus on the present."
Ashleigh Gardner (GG): "It was good (game vs UP Warriorz), you want to start the competition with a win. Different people stood up at different times, pleasing to see that as a captain. It's fantastic to see people coming in and making an impact. It was so pleasing to share a partnership with Anushka. That'll give her confidence even today. No changes."
Beth Mooney and Sophie Devine are the opening batters for Gujarat Giants, while Marizane Kapp has the new ball for Delhi Capitals. Kapp's first ball is helped towards the leg side by Mooney, and it races away for four.
The very next ball results in a massive caught behind appeal from the bowler. The umpire is not impressed, but Kapp reviews it in a heartbeat. UltraEdge shows a flat line, even though there was a distinct sound. An interesting opening over to the match.
Nandini Sharma, who took two wickets in the last match, gets hit for back-to-back boundaries in her over by Devine, helped on by a couple of poor pieces of fielding. Both Gujarat batters have started to fire now, and Jemimah knows that her side needs a breakthrough soon.
It's the Sophie Devine show going on in Navi Mumbai. After back-to-back boundaries, the batter ups the ante with two huge sixes to reach a 25-ball half-century. Sneh Rana has absolutely no answer to Devine, as she hits four consecutive sixes to get 32 from that over.
What a sensational catch from Charani!! The spinner takes a return catch from her own bowling to dismiss Mooney and hand her side the first breakthrough. Mooney attempts to hit it big but does not manage to get enough of the bat on it, and Charani manages to grab on to it after a bit if fumble.
Oh no!!!!! Sophie Devine looked set to score WPL's first-ever century. At 95, she attempts to wildly flick one towards the leg side but gets a massive outside edge, which flies up. Charani, running towards short fine leg, takes a diving catch. A brilliant catch to end a brilliant innings, and our search for the first century in Women's Premier League continues.
Another spectacular catch, this time from the captain, Jemimah Rodrigues. Charani gets her second as she sends Wareham back for just three runs. Looking to drive it towards the off-side, Jemimah comes flying across with both hands outstretched to grab on to the ball.
After a bit of quiet following the three wickets, the Giants put their foot on the gas pedal again. Shafali gets it for a powerful boundary by Anushka, who follows it up with a huge six. It gets to her head, though, as she tries to sweep one towards the leg side. However, it's a slower delivery which gets a top edge that is taken by Nandini at square leg.
Henry gets her first wicket of the night as Delhi Capitals prevent the Giants from building any kind of momentum. Fulmali is the latest one to depart as she gets fooled by the slower ball, hitting it straight into the arms of Wolvaardt at long-on.
Heartbreak for Ash Gardner as she departs just one run short of a deserved half-century. The skipper, after a fiery innings, fails to time the last ball of the over from Henry. It flies towards long-on, where Wolvaardt is ready with her safe pair of hands.
Gautam had no choice but to try and go big. She comes out of her crease and attempts to slog it, but only manages to hole it straight to Henry at long-on. Nandini Sharma gets her second wicket of the night.
Nandini Sharma, take a bow. The debutant becomes the fourth bowler to get a hat-trick in WPL, ending the innings with figures of 5/33. First, she gets the scalp of Kanika Ahuja, who is stumped expertly be Lee. Then, she bowls straight and full to the tail-enders, getting identical wickets of Rajeshwari and Renuka.
Lizelle Lee and Shafali Verma are at the crease as they begin a mammoth run-chase.
Lizelle Lee has started the innings on a rapid note with some big-hits in the first two overs. 18 runs came off the first two overs, and GG know it's going to be a task to keep these two hitters quiet.
DCW 21/0 (2 Overs)
Delhi Capitals have got onto a fiery start here in Navi Mumbai, all thanks to their openers Lizelle Lee and Shafali Verma. DC are going at 7.94 rpo and are in good health as they pursue 210 target.
DCW 41/0 (5 Overs)
Rajeshri Gayakwad struck as she dismissed the fiery Shafali Verma (18) as GG snapped up their first wicket of the innings. However, they have to be vary as DC bat deep and with more batters to come, they need more dismissals along the way.
DCW 70/1 (8 Overs)
With the required run rate touching 13, Wolvaardt and Lee have started taking risks, with the former barely clearing Devine's outstretched arm to cross the boundary ropes. The Capitals go past the 100-run mark with eight overs left to play.
Lee drags a wider delivery on the sweep slog. It almost fell perfectly in place for Gardner, who gets her hands well underneath the ball, but it still has enough power to go for a six. The South African batter than follows it up with a boundary, keeping the required run rate under 14.
Lee continued to live dangerously, but her luck runs out at the end. It's an identical chance from the last over, with Lee dragging another wide-ish delivery towards long-on. This time, however, the elevation isn't there, and Devine holds on to the ball.
Henry, promoted over Jemimah and Kapp, welcomes Rajeshwari with a huge six over long-on. The spinner, however, switches up her length and reduces the pace. That does the trick as Henry tries the same shot again but only manages to find Gardner.
Loose bowling from captain Gardner, and Woolvardt punishes her with two boundaries and her six. The DC batter reaches her half-century in just 29 balls. 19 runs from that over, and the Capitals need just 29 more from 12 balls.
Jemi tries to play a scoop shot but fails to time it. The ball hits her glove and is taken by the wicketkeeper. The DC skipper immediately reviews the decision, but UltraEdge shows a spike with the ball hitting her wrist. The Cpaitals lose their fourth wicket with six runs needed off four balls.
What a final over that was from Devine. With just six runs to defend, the skiupper followed up her wicket of Jemimah with the scalp of the dangerous Laura Woolvardt. The GG batter attempted a big shot to end the chase early but only managed to find Wareham at deep mid-wicket.
With five runs needed off the final ball, Sneh Rana swung her bat and missed, and Gujarat Giants seal an unlikely four-run victory. And the credit surely must go to Devine, who shone with both bat and ball to extend GG's winning streak.
