Pakistan have lost their openers in these early exchanges. Azan Awais and Abdullah Fazal were sent packing by the BAN bowlers, with the visitors finding themselves at 51/2 (14 overs). The duty to now steady the ship is on the skipper Shan Masood and experienced campaigner Babar Azam.
PAK: 51/2 (14 Overs)
PAK find themselves three down with still the score under 100 runs. This has been terrific morning session for the hosts, taking three wickets and not letting their visitors off the hook. Shan Masood was the latest wicket to fall with Mehidy Hasan Miraz being the wicket-taker.
PAK: 62-3 (18 Overs)
Pakistan trail by 199 runs and have lost their fourth wicket. Saud Shakeel is the latest to depart and it seems the visitors are the culprits of their own downfall. PAK have kept losing wickets and another one before lunch, could see the hosts back on top.
PAK: 79-4 (25 Overs)
Its lunchtime in Sylhet as Bangladesh head into the break with their noses in front. They have plucked four PAK wickets and the visitors still trail by 182 runs with six wickets in hand. Most importantly for the visitors, they still have Babar Azam at the crease. His wicket will be key in this Test match.
Babar Azam has scored a fifty, a fighting one, as Pakistan look to fightback against Bangladesh in Sylhet. Just as when things were looking down and out, the former skipper has stood up and made himself counted against the opposition.
PAK: 135/4 (38 Overs)
Babar Azam has walked back on 68 with Salman Agha to follow suit as Bangladesh struck post-lunch. Babar was playing a gritty knock until the wicket and now the visitors have a lot to do, and have four wickets intact.
PAK: 158/6 (44 Overs)
Mohammad Rizwan is the latest to depart with PAK in serious trouble now, and on the verge of conceding a huge lead. Taijul Islam clean bowls the experienced campaigner and now it's the turn of the lower-order to keep the visitors at bay.
PAK: 175/7 (50 Overs)
Pakistan trail by 72 runs at tea as the hosts have taken complete control of this Test match. Two wickets remain and then BAN can bat again. PAK need their lower to fire and take them near the total.
PAK: 206/8 (55 Overs)
Abbas bowls it on a good length down the leg side, and Mahmudul Hasan Joy looks to work it away but misses. It clips off the pads and races away to the fence for four leg byes.
Sajid Khan fires it in and Mahmudul Hasan Joy responds with authority, leaning into a crisp drive and smashing it wide of cover for four. Struck cleanly, right into the gap, and that brings up the fifty.
Mahmudul Hasan Joy is nearing to his half-century, while he's well-complemented by Mominul Haque, who batting on 16 off 28 balls. Their partnership is not 58-runs strong and BAN's lead has gone to 119 runs. PAK need to break the partnership quickly or they could take the match away from them
Wicket! Mohammad Abbas strikes for Pakistan as he sends the well-set Mahmudul Hasan Joy for 52. Just as it was looking that both these batters are taking the game away from Pakistan, Abbas gets a timely wicket. Skipper Najmul Hasan Shanto joins Mominul Haque in the middle.
Mominul Haque and Najmul Hasan Shanto are looking comfortable at the crease and have taken the 3rd wicket partnership to 19 runs. PAK need to take quick wickets here as Bangladesh's lead have gone to 156 runs.
Some respite for Pakistan as they get a wicket on the last fourth ball of the last over of the day. Khurram Shahzad gets Mominul Haque caught behind on 30. Bangladesh still have a lead of 156 runs with seven wickets in hand.
That's a wrap from our end. We'll be back soon with another blog, until then, bye bye.
