In the first ODI of the 2025 series between Bangladesh and the West Indies, Bangladesh emerged victorious by 74 runs at Dhaka's Shere Bangla National Stadium.
Opting to bat first, Bangladesh posted a total of 207 runs in 49.4 overs. Towhid Hridoy top-scored with 51 runs, while debutant Mahidul Islam contributed 46. Despite early breakthroughs by West Indies bowlers Jayden Seales (3/48), Roston Chase (2/37), and Justin Greaves (2/43), Bangladesh managed to set a competitive total.
Chasing the target, the West Indies were bowled out for 133 runs in 39 overs. Rishad Hossain was the standout performer for Bangladesh, taking 6 wickets for 35 runs, including the first five wickets of the innings. Brandon King (44) and Alick Athanaze (27) provided a solid start with a 51-run opening partnership, but the middle-order collapse, triggered by Rishad's incisive bowling, led to their downfall.
