We will soon have the toss at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Players are out on the ground, warming up for this second T20I.
Bangladesh captain Jaker Ali has won the toss and he has opted to field first, just like the first T20I.
Afghanistan Playing XI: Rahmanullah Gurbaz(w), Sediqullah Atal, Ibrahim Zadran, Darwish Rasooli, Wafiullah Tarakhil, Azmatullah Omarzai, Mohammad Nabi, Abdullah Ahmadzai, Rashid Khan(c), Noor Ahmad, Mujeeb Ur Rahman
Bangladesh Playing XI: Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Parvez Hossain Emon, Saif Hassan, Jaker Ali(w/c), Nurul Hasan, Shamim Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin, Rishad Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam
We are underway with a five-run opening over of the match. Ibrahim Zadran has flicked Shoriful Islam for the first boundary of the evening but overall Bangladesh have a good start. Just five off the first over with four dot balls.
A slow start from Afghanistan. They bat really deep and even then the openers have been overly cautious so far in this second T20I. Sediqullah Atal has scored just nine runs from his 14 balls. Not the best of starts for the young man while Ibrahim Zadran is batting on 26 off 22.
Sediqullah Atal tried to up the ante but he had depart after hitting back-to-back sixes off Rishad Hossain. Now, Ibrahim Zadran is in the middle alongside Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Things are still moving slow for Afghanistan and it is high time for some big shots.
Nasum Ahmed finishes his brilliant spell. Four overs for just 25 runs for the left-arm spinner and he takes two wickets. Rahmanullah Gurbaz is still in the middle and Afghanistan would hope for some big hits from him.
Just six off the 18th over and Bangladesh will once again hope to stop Afghanistan before 150. Azmatullah Omarzai and Mohammad Nabi are in the middle and they both can hit the ball long. Can Afghanistan manage to end on a high. Let us see what is in store for the last 12 balls.
A decent score for Afghanistan as they finish off with 147/5. Just 25 runs off the final three overs. So, not the big finish that Afghanistan were expecting. Bangladesh too would not be disappointed with their effort. They would feel the target is well within their reach.
Azmatullah Omarzai draws first blood for Afghanistan. Tanzid Hasan has to depart early and Afghanistan celebrate. Just eight runs off the first two overs and Bangladesh might be feeling some pressure now.
Top start from Afghanistan but Bangladesh have still managed to go over run-a-ball. Azmatullah struck twice with the new ball and then Mujeeb ur Rahman added another wicket to make it three outs. Shamim Hossain and captain Jaker Ali are now in the middle for Bangladesh.
Rashid Khan to the rescue. He breaks the partnership to revive hopes of Afghanistan. Jaker Ali and Shamim Hossain had added 56 runs within no time and were threatening to make this game one-sided. But Rashid traps Ali in front of stumps and Afghanistan get their fourth wicket after some wait. The match is still alive but Bangladesh are clear favourites here.
Bangladesh need 68 runs in 54 balls
Bangladesh need 44 runs in 30 balls
The game has been brought to balance by Noor Ahmed as he dismisses the set batter Shamim Hossain. The batter tries a reverse sweep but hands an easy catch to Mujeeb ur Rahman. Some tight overs and Afghanistan will really put Bangladesh under pressure here.
Azmatullah Omarzai strikes twice in the 18th over and the match is yet again in balance. What an over from Omarzai to follow up on an equally brilliant over from captain Rashid Khan.
Bangladesh need 19 runs in 12 balls
Bangladesh win by two wickets!
Shoriful Islam hits the winning runs and Bangladesh would take the game away. They also win the series with a game still in hand.
AFG 147/5 (20)
BAN 150/8 (19.1)
Bangladesh won by 2 wkts
A late collapse threatened to take the game away from Bangladesh but Nurul Hasan and Shoriful Islam hit 17 off the penultimate over bowled by Noor Ahmad. That just left two for Azmatullah to defend in the final over and Bangladesh completed the chase with five balls in hand.
Shoriful Islam is the Player of the Match. He bowled four overs for just 13 runs and picked up a wicket. He then hit two crucial fours to lead Bangladesh to victory.
The third and final T20I is on October 5. Do join us on Sunday. Till then, good bye!
