Williamson managed to score a hundred on the pitch where no other Kiwi batter made a fifty-plus score. He continued his white-ball form in Test cricket and hit the fourth successive Test match century. With his hundred, he became the first New Zealand batter to score four successive Test match hundreds.

Williamson had earlier this year scored 132 runs against England in Wellington before going on to score 121 not out and 215 against Sri Lanka in back-to-back Tests in Christchurch and Wellington. With this century, Williamson equalled the likes of Matthew Hayden, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and a few more. Sir Don Bradman holds the record, having scored hundreds in six straight Test matches between 1937 and 1938.

With his 29th century, the no. 1 Test batter also equalled the number of Test centuries of Virat Kohli and Don Bradman. He surpassed Michael Clarke and Hashim Amla on the list.

Williamson hit 11 fours and played 205 balls before Bangladesh spinner Taijul Islam bowled him on the score of 104 runs just before the end of Day 2. When he got out, New Zealand were still trailing by 48 runs.
