A Supreme Court-appointed panel has submitted its report on the three new farm laws in a sealed cover to the apex court. The panel was tasked with analysing the legislation, which have sparked a long-drawn agitation by farmers. The development came days after a Punjab BJP MLA was assaulted by a group of farmers, drawing sharp criticism against the leaders spearheading the agitation.

President Ram Nath Kovind has given his assent to a bill that accords primacy to Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor (L-G) over the elected government. Kovind signed the legislation two days before he underwent bypass surgery at AIIMS Delhi on March 30.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bangladesh on March 26 when the nation celebrated its 50th Independence Day. This was his first trip to a foreign country since the coronavirus outbreak. Modi said the tour was fruitful and would strengthen bilateral ties. He also said he was arrested when he participated in a Satyagraha for Bangladesh’s freedom.
