Jean Drèze studied mathematical economics at the University of Essex and completed his PhD at the Indian Statistical Institute in New Delhi.
He taught at the London School of Economics and the Delhi School of Economics and served as visiting faculty at the GB Pant Social Science Institute in Allahabad.
He has co-authored books with Amartya Sen, Nicholas Stern and Angus Deaton, with his academic work focusing on hunger, gender inequality, child health and education.
