The Comptroller and Auditor General detected E. coli, a pathogen linked to human waste, in drinking water samples at several major railway stations.
Affected locations include prominent hubs such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Kalyan, Lonavala, Coimbatore, and Hyderabad.
The audit revealed that 458 out of 512 surveyed non-suburban grade stations failed to meet the prescribed Minimum Essential Amenities.
