Why Is A Union Minister And BJP Criticising Modi On Twitter? Find Out

The mischief and the faux pas by the BJP was first brought to notice in a Twitter thread by Pratik Sinha, who runs fact-checking website AltNews.

A document, parts of which were being tweeted by official handles of Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan, the BJP's Assam Pradesh's unit, and hordes of BJP sympathisers, was mischievously edited by someone to make the text disapproving of the Narendra Modi government, instead of its intended purpose of praising the same.

What followed on Twitter was a deluge of anti-Modi and anti-government tweets being pushed by sympathisers of the BJP, apparently even without realising that they were criticizing the government, even as the tweets were published with #Modi4NewIndia.

For example, "PM Modi took care of the needs of marginalized", after editing became, "PM Modi took care of the needs of richest", and "Modi govt embarked towards entering the club of USD 5 trillion economies," was edited to "Modi govt embarked towards entering the club of USD 0.5 trillion economies."

The hilarity did not end there, and among many such texts being tweeted under #Modi4NewIndia, was BJP Assam Pradesh's tweet, that read "#Modi4NewIndia Dishonesty & lack of transparency is the hallmark of a new India under Modi govt."

The mischief and the faux pas of the BJP was first brought to notice in a Twitter thread by Pratik Sinha, who runs fact-checking website AltNews.

Subsequently, many of the tweets were deleted, including those by Radhakrishanan as well as those of the Assam Pradesh handle.

However, Sinha also used the incident to make a point that "a non government entity sitting in BJP's office is controlling what a Union Minister is tweeting," referring to Radhakrishnan's tweets.
