Kashmir Is A Political Issue, Can Be Resolved Through Dialogue: Shah Faesal In His First Public Rally

Faesal said he worked in the government for ten years as a public servant and realised that there is huge gap between the common people and those who hold power.

In his first pubic rally, IAS officer-turned-politician Shah Faesal put an impressive show in north Kashmir district of Kupwara on Monday addressing hundreds of people. He described Kashmir as a political issue, and called upon both India and Pakistan to hold talks to resolve the issue.

Faesal said he worked in the government for ten years as a public servant and realised that there is huge gap between the common people and those who hold power. He said it was his desire to work for the people and raise voice for them that prompted him to join politics. He said corruption has eaten up the system in the state.

“Here you don’t get a drainage in your area without recommendations. I was heading the Power department and I realised that the state is not allowed to be self-sufficient,” he said.

He said he raised his voice against atrocities on minorities in the country. He said Kashmiris are giving sacrifice for their political rights even as politicians keep saying the youths were doing it just for Rs 500.

“When a politician here is asked what is Kashmir issue, he responds saying that problem is money as 2003 economic package has not been released yet. Is money our issue? Are we beggars? We are saying Kashmir is political issue and two countries should talk about the issue and till then they need not throw money on us,” he said further.
