Focus On Projects That Meet People's Needs, TN CM Tells Officials

"There's no happiness that equals one's satisfaction. Hence, officials should pay attention to implementing projects that provide satisfaction to the people," the chief minister said.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Thursday called upon officials to focus their attention more on executing developmental projects that meet the people's needs.

Projects that ensure drinking water to people, provide basic amenities, provide patta, uplift the poor, skill the youth, and provide quality medicare, in particular, should be the priorities for the district administration, he said at a review meeting held at Villupuram in the state, as part of his 'CM on field visit' initiative.

"There's no happiness that equals one's satisfaction. Hence, officials should pay attention to implementing projects that provide satisfaction to the people," the chief minister said.

Stalin had launched the 'CM on field visit' programme to personally ensure that government projects and initiatives reached beneficiaries. "Instead of presuming that projects would be implemented automatically after they are launched, I choose to personally inspect the pace of development and also ascertain the practical difficulties during implementation, if any," Stalin said.

So far, the CM has reviewed the progress of work in 14 districts, and today he took stock of the work going on in Villupuram, Cuddalore and Kallakurichi districts.

Stalin said that as chief minister he could communicate, confer with or exchange views with the department secretaries concerned, but he altered the scope of the review to obtain first-hand information from subordinate officials through such meetings.

"I see a huge difference now. The officials and staff at the district level are now aware of the government's expectations and work accordingly," he said.
