The Delhi Police have granted a no-objection certificate (NOC) for a peaceful protest under the "Reservation Hatao Andolan" at Ramlila Ground on Friday, August 21, 2026. The Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Central District issued the approval via an official communication. The NOC permits a maximum of 500 people to gather at the venue until 4 pm. The police stated they had "no objection" to the protest from a "law and order point of view".

Venue Shift From Jantar

Organisers originally planned the protest at Jantar Mantar. However, police dismissed claims of approving any gathering at the previous site. "No permission has been granted for any protest, procession, demonstration or assembly at Jantar Mantar," the police stated on Thursday on its official X account.

Strict Guidelines For Gathering

The "Reservation Hatao Andolan" is an Instagram-based page with 5.6mn followers. The campaign gained momentum by adopting protest-mobilisation tactics used by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).

Marching or overnight stays remain banned. Organisers must comply with every directive under relevant Delhi Police standing orders, which govern public assemblies in the capital. Police warned they will revoke the permit at any point if demonstrators violate these conditions.
