Congress Hints At Serial Killings After Three Women Found Dead In Drums In Bengaluru

While the police claim to have solved the latest case, they have failed to identify the first two women whose bodies were found in drums earlier in December and January.

The Congress party has alleged 'Serial Killings' ahead of the Karnataka Assembly Elections, after a woman's body was found in a plastic drum at a railway station in Bengaluru on Monday.

Three women have been found dead in drums since December in the state, making a strong case for the opposition to question the ruling BJP. The latest victim, identified as Tamanna was 27 years old. Her body was found stuffed with clothes and lidded in a drum near one of the entry gates of the Baiyappanahalli railway station in Bengaluru between 10 am and 11 am.

The police however claim to have solved the case alleging that Tamanna was killed by her brother-in-law. Tamanna, who lived with her partner in Bengaluru had apparently left her husband Afroz in Bihar's Araria and had eloped with Intequab. The police allege that Afroz's brother Kamal killed her on February 12, with his friends' help.

Kamal and his friends left the body in a drum at the railway station a day later, police said. They had traveled in an autorickshaw and were tracked down with the help of security footage. Three of the suspects have been arrested, while five more are currently missing, the police said.

The first of such killings first surfaced early in December 2022. A decomposed body was discovered from a train in a drum on December  6. Later on January 4, another body, with multiple injuries, was found on a platform at Bengaluru's Yeshwantpur railway station. Both the women have yet not been identified by the police.

Furthermore, the police denied any link to previous "drum" murders or any role of a serial killer. Railway Police officer Somlata was quoted saying, "This case has nothing to do with the two previous cases. So far, we haven't found anything to indicate that a serial killer is involved."
