Mallikarjun Kharge accused the Bharatiya Janata Party government led by Narendra Modi of dismantling India’s strategic and economic policies, saying the burden of rising prices is falling on 1.4 billion Indians.
He cited hikes in commercial LPG, aviation turbine fuel, essential medicines, toll taxes and postal charges, claiming the increases will hurt households, farmers, MSMEs and welfare schemes like the Mid-Day Meal Scheme.
The criticism came after commercial LPG prices were raised by ₹195.50, while jet fuel prices surged following the West Asia conflict, though the government adopted a calibrated increase for domestic airlines.
