Summary
  • BJP National President Nitin Nabin led the first meeting of the newly appointed 65-member national office-bearers at the party headquarters in New Delhi.

  • The party constituted a specialised team including Nitin Nabin, Smriti Irani, and Vinod Tawde to drive its upcoming Gen Z Outreach Programme.

  • Gujarat's Hemang Joshi was appointed as the new Yuva Morcha president, succeeding Lok Sabha MP Tejasvi Surya to target younger demographics.

BJP National President Nitin Nabin led the inaugural gathering of the party's freshly appointed national office-bearers on August 22, 2026, at the party headquarters, ANI reported.

Before discussions began, attendees recited all six stanzas of the national song 'Vande Mataram'. The session concentrated on readiness for impending State Assembly polls, strategies for grassroots mobilisation and ways to convey government initiatives to citizens.

Further meetings were planned for later in the day, with BJP state presidents, state in-charges and chief ministers of BJP-governed states expected to participate, PTI reported.

Gen Z Outreach Strategy

To drive its forthcoming Gen Z Outreach Programme, the BJP has formed a specialised group. A top party source told ANI: " BJP National President Nitin Nabin, National General Secretaries Smriti Irand Vinod Tawde , Gujarat Minister Harsh Sanghavi, Chhattisgarh Minister OP Choudhary, along with several other leaders, have been included in the team constituted for the outreach initiative"

This initiative is designed to build an ongoing, direct conversation to grasp the hopes, worries and expectations of younger generations.

In a move reflecting this focus on younger demographics, Gujarat's Hemang Joshi was appointed as the Yuva Morcha president, succeeding Lok Sabha MP Tejasvi Surya.

Massive Organisational Reshuffle

Nabin's recently unveiled national team consists of 65 office-bearers, incorporating 51 fresh faces, a dozen women and half a dozen minority community leaders. The restructuring includes 13 national vice presidents, featuring former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia and former RSS functionary Ram Madhav.

Former Union minister Smriti Irani was named one of the eight national general secretaries. She takes on the role alongside newly inducted members Biplab Kumar Deb, Satish Poonia, Gajendra Patel, Harish Dwivedi and Sanjay Bhatia. The party also retained B L Santhosh as national general secretary (organisation) while Vinod Tawde and Sunil Bansal kept their positions as general secretaries.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal assumed the role of national treasurer, a position he occupied prior to May 2014. Rajasthan's Rajesh Mangal was selected as the national joint treasurer.

In the IT department, Chhattisgarh's Deepak Mhaskey took over as head, replacing Amit Malviya.

This overhaul marks the most significant organisational shift for the BJP since Amit Shah's tenure as party president in 2015, sparking rumours of an approaching Cabinet reshuffle.
