BHU Again: Female Student Allegedly Slapped By Three Bike-Borne Youths, No Arrest Yet

The girl claimed that when she was heading towards her hostel after visiting a market neaby, the three youths slapped on her head.

In yet another harassment case on the Banaras Hindu University premises in Varanasi, a female student has alleged that she was slapped by three bike-borne youths on Thursday evening.
The girl claimed that when she was heading towards her hostel after visiting a market neaby, the three youths slapped on her head. She immediately informed the Quick Response Team (QRT),reports Hindustan Times.
University’s chief proctor Royana Singh told the newspaper that a search was carried out on the premises during night. But unidentified miscreants couldn’t be traced.
“Patrolling has been increased further after the. We are taking all possible measures to tighten security on the premises,” Singh added.
On September 23, a clash broke out between students and police outside the BHU campus after police lathi-charged the students, who were protesting against alleged molestation of a girl.
An FIR was also lodged against 1,000 BHU students and several were asked to vacate hostels.
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued a notice to the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police (DG) Uttar Pradesh and the BHU Vice-Chancellor seeking a detailed report on the matter and submits his response within four weeks.
On October 5, another student from the varsity alleged molestation on the campus. The student has claimed that she was "dragged and slapped". According to reports, girl student was heading to the chamber of a professor in faculty of science building when a student of MA (Public Administration) third semester student SS Gond caught her, thrashed her and later even damaged her phone.
