Donald Trump said US strikes involving B-2 bombers prevented Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon and insisted Tehran would not be allowed to develop one.
Trump acknowledged that Americans could face gasoline prices of around $4 but said higher costs were justified by the objective of stopping Iran's nuclear ambitions.
Iran has remained defiant over the Strait of Hormuz, with Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi saying the waterway would be reopened only under Iran's command.
