The US Defence Intelligence Agency’s 2026 space-security report includes a high-resolution image of China’s reusable spaceplane captured by Maxar Technologies in 2024.
The spacecraft, commonly known as Shenlong, resembles the US X-37B, but the similarities do not establish that the two vehicles have the same capabilities or missions.
China’s spaceplane has conducted multiple orbital missions since 2020, but its operational objectives remain unclear and the image does not prove it has an offensive military role.
