In the wake of Tsunami warnings in Japan, netizens are pointing to a sensational prediction by Japanese manga artist and self‑declared clairvoyant Ryo Tatsuki. Tatsuki had said that Japan would experience disaster in July 2025, and this prediction had already triggered cancellation of travel plans to Japan. Tatsuki’s predictions appeared in a 2021 reprint of her 1999 manga The Future I Saw which warned of a “catastrophic disaster” striking Japan on July 5, 2025.

In the book, Tatsuki reportedly Tatsuki reportedly described a major undersea rupture forming between Japan and the Philippines, unleashing a tsunami “three times larger than the 2011 Tōhoku disaster”. Several descriptions of boiling water and such have also surfaced on the internet leading to speculations that she was predicting Russia’s 8.7 earthquake on July 30, 2025.
Meanwhile, earlier Miyagi governor Yoshihiro Murai had called these rumors “unscientific” and urged tourists not to be cancel plans: “There is no reason to worry… I hope people will ignore the rumours and visit.”
Tatsuki has previously been credited for predicting various disasters including the 1995 Kobe earthquake, the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, the COVID‑19 pandemic, Freddie Mercury, Princess Diana‘s death.
