Faisal Shareef Khan and Jai Mangal Kumar, the duo behind Studio 145, are not classically trained architects. They began in the unlikeliest of places, designing cinematic backdrops. What was once about creating illusions for the screen has become, over the past three years, an ambitious journey to redefine how people experience spaces in real life.

From Backdrops to Blueprints

Faisal’s career started behind the scenes, painting worlds that lasted only as long as a film reel. That training, however, sharpened his instinct for drama, for mood, for detail. A move into wedding set design gave him a larger canvas, and over twelve years he learned how to blend artistry with logistics.

Jai’s path was different but complementary. With fourteen years in the wedding and design industry, he became the man people turned to when a vision seemed too complex to execute. If Faisal was the dreamer, Jai was the engineer of possibilities. Their partnership grew out of a shared conviction that spaces could be more than four walls and décor.

Spotting the Gap

When they looked around India’s venues, they saw opportunity disguised as complacency. Halls were built for function, rarely for feeling. Luxury was often measured in chandeliers and marble, not in how a space could shape a guest’s experience. Faisal and Jai believed there was room, indeed, a need for venues that offered something deeper.

A Studio with a Mission

In 2022, that belief crystallized into Studio 145. “We just wanted to redesign the experience of wedding or event venues,” Faisal recalls. The studio was conceived as a laboratory of sorts, where architectural detail could meet creative storytelling. Their projects since then have shown how seamlessly modern technology, cultural cues, and design precision can come together to create destinations that live in memory.

Passion, Purpose, and the Road Ahead

Ask them what drives them, and the answer is simple: passion for space. Not the square footage, but the atmosphere a room can hold. “We didn’t just want to design. We wanted to create impact,” Jai says. That ethos is now visible in banquets, clubs, and hospitality projects across Delhi NCR and beyond.

Studio 145’s rise is still in its early chapters, but its story already hints at a larger shift. India’s celebration spaces are no longer just stages for events, they are becoming experiences in themselves. And that is exactly what Faisal and Jai had in mind when they stepped out of the backdrop and into the spotlight.
