India Sets Three Guinness World Records Under ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’

India’s “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan” set 3 Guinness World Records for mass women’s health screenings, engaging 11 crore people and advancing preventive healthcare nationwide.

The Union Health Ministry has achieved three Guinness World Records titles under the nationwide women-centric health campaign, “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan” (SNSPA), highlighting India’s large-scale mobilisation in preventive and community healthcare.

The campaign, conducted from September 17 to October 2, coinciding with Poshan Maah, saw unprecedented community participation across the country.

According to the Ministry, the initiative set records for the largest number of people registering on a healthcare platform in one month — 3.21 crore; the most participants signing up for an online breast-cancer screening in one week — 9.94 lakh; and the most people signing up for vital-signs screening online in one week at the State level — 1.25 lakh.

Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the campaign focused on improving the health and nutrition of women, adolescent girls and children, with emphasis on early disease detection, access to essential health services, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles.

“Our mothers and sisters — our women power — are the foundation of our nation’s progress. If a mother is healthy, the whole family stays healthy,” Mr. Modi said while launching the initiative.

Across the country, the campaign reached every district, organising 19.7 lakh health camps and recording a footfall of more than 11 crore people across various health platforms. Over 20 ministries, along with Central institutions, medical colleges, private organisations and public representatives, participated, making it a ‘Whole-of-Government’ effort, said an official from the Union Health Ministry.

Community involvement was equally extensive, with over five lakh Panchayati Raj representatives, 1.14 crore school and college students, 94 lakh self-help-group members, and nearly five lakh members from other community platforms taking part in the drive.

The campaign yielded significant health outcomes, including 1.78 crore hypertension screenings, 1.73 crore diabetes screenings, 69.5 lakh oral-cancer screenings, 62.6 lakh antenatal-care check-ups, 1.43 crore vaccine doses administered, and 1.51 crore anaemia tests conducted, said the official.

In addition, more than 85.9 lakh women were screened for tuberculosis, 10.2 lakh for sickle-cell disease, and 2.14 crore individuals participated in counselling and wellness sessions. Over 2.68 lakh Nikshay Mitra (anti-tuberculosis volunteers) were registered, supported by My Bharat volunteers.

The official described the achievement as a testament to India’s collective resolve to strengthen preventive healthcare by integrating government systems, digital innovation and community participation towards building a “Healthy Woman, Empowered Family, and Viksit Bharat.”
