After a legal battle between the makers of Janaki V vs State of Kerala and Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the film finally saw the day of light. The censor board granted certification to JSK following a change in its title. Earlier, CBFC refused censor certificate to the Malayalam film reportedly due to objection over the title character ’Janaki’ which is another name for Hindu Goddess Sita. The board said they would certify the film only if the character’s full name, 'Janaki V' or 'V Janaki', was added to the title, and the name 'Janaki' was muted in one courtroom scene.

Janaki V vs State of Kerala finally hit the theatres on Thursday, July 17, after its tussle with CBFC. The Suresh Gopi starrer received negative reviews.
Makers agreed to make the changes, and CBFC issued a certificate on July 11, reported Bar and Bench. Justice N Nagaresh, closed the case, stating that all the objections had been resolved. Janaki V vs State of Kerala finally hit the theatres on Thursday, July 17.
The courtroom drama, starring Suresh Gopi and Anupama Parameswaran's has received mostly negative response from audiences. The early reviews of the JSK are out on X (formerly known as Twitter). Netizens are highly disappointed with the film as they felt the story lacked emotional depth. One user called the direction "outdated, criticised the dialogues, and was shocked to see the "weak performances" from a capable cast. Another compared it to propaganda films of Vivek Agnihotri and other filmmakers.

The film revolves around an IT professional from Bangalore, who returns to her hometown in Kerala for a vacation, but soon, she becomes the victim of a harrowing incident. She fights for justice, and the case takes a turn when Advocate David Abel Donovan enters the scene.
The film is directed by Pravin Narayanan and produced by J. Phanindra Kumar under Cosmos Entertainments, with Sethuraman Nair Kankol as co-producer.
